Remember that innocence you once craved to get taken away?
You put on mommie's make up and played 21
You told your daddy that you could go to bed at 10 because you were a big girl,
You tried so desperately to grow older.
Remember the day you wanted that innocence back?
That day was today, when you looked back.
The innocence to be in the middle of another one of mommie and daddy's fights,
And only care about going to grandma's house, not the various items being tossed about.
When mommie's threat to go to grandma's rang like a hallelujah, because you loved grandma.
But that was mommie's one threat.
The threat to leave.
And now, how you wish mommie had actually left.
You were right to be upset that day, upset that mommie lied about going to grandma's.
Because maybe that could've been the day when the innocence was saved.
